CDR Sacramento, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. After graduation, he was selected for the Nuclear Propulsion Officer program for submarine service. He earned his commission through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL and completed Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Prototype Training in Charleston, SC. He completed his Master of Engineering Management with Old Dominion University.
At sea, CDR Sacramento’s submarine assignments include the USS PENNSYLVANIA (SSBN-735)(Gold) and USS NEVADA (SSBN-733)(Blue) both homeported in Bangor, WA. While onboard PENNSYLVANIA, he served as the Electrical Officer and participated in a Demonstration and Shakedown Operations, resulting in the successful launch of an inert D5 ballistic missile. As the Communications Officer onboard NEVADA, he completed post-Engineered Refueling Overhaul recertification, Sea Trials, Strategic certification and NEVADA’s first deterrent patrol in over 3 years.
Shore staff assignments include Submarine Group 7 in Yokosuka, Japan as a Submarine Watch Officer and Plans & Policy Assistant where he was selected for redesignation to the submarine Full Time Support (FTS)/ Training and Administration of Reservists (TAR) community; Submarine Force Atlantic in Norfolk, VA as the Assistant Operational Support Office (OSO) and Plans & Policy Assistant; Submarine Group 8 / Commander, Task Force 69 in Naples, Italy as the OSO and Theater Undersea Warfare (TUSW) Department Head; Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet / Commander, Task Force 34 OSO/Reserve Program Director (RPD) and TUSW Planner in Pearl Harbor, HI before elevating to the Type Commander RPD for the Pacific submarine force. While in Pearl Harbor, CDR Sacramento temporarily supported Joint Task Force – Red Hill as part of the Strategic Engagements Group tasked with rebuilding trust with the Local Community following the fuel release and water contamination from the Navy’s Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility in Oahu.
CDR Sacramento previously served as the Commanding Officer of Navy Operational Support Center Youngstown OH from 2015-2017. He assumed command of Reserve Talent Acquisition Group Southwest in April 2025.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2) and various unit awards, including the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation (2) and Battle Efficiency Ribbon.
