Commander Kasimir M. Wnuk is a native of Syracuse, New York. He is a 1996 graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta with a degree in political science. He earned a Master’s in defense and strategic studies at United States Naval War College in 2014.

After commissioning through Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida in June of 2002 he reported to USS CUSHING (DD985) in Yokosuka Japan as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. Other sea tours include Auxiliaries Division Officer on USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63), Yokosuka; Chief Engineer on USS DOYLE (FFG-39) in Mayport, FL, and Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Surface Warfare Mission Package Detachment TWO Officer in Charge home ported in San Diego.

Deployments include two 5th fleet, one 4th fleet and three 7th fleet, including the initial forward basing of USS FREEDOM (LCS-1) to Singapore in 2013.

Shore tours include Executive Officer of Naval Operational Support Center, San Jose, California; a ten month individual augmentation billet as Counter Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) battle watch captain in Baghdad, Iraq; one year at the Naval War College in Newport, RI; and tours at OPNAV N96 Surface Warfare Directorate, and OPNAV N3N5 Strategy Directorate in Washington D.C. He served as Commanding Officer, Navy Reserve Center Tucson from 2019 until 2021 and as Chief Staff Officer at REDCOM Everett.
