A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Command Senior Chief Tom Walsh graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree, with concentration in Information Systems Technology & Management.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve in February 2003, and attended basic training in October of the same year. He completed course requirements for Operations Specialist, and upon graduating Boot Camp was placed with his first duty assignment – Mobile Operations Control Center Zero Two Nine Three (MOCC 0293) in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Designated as Officer in Charge of MOCC 0293 while a PO2, was selected as Reserve TOC East’s lead coordinator for Reserve support. In 2013 he was selected to Chief, and in 2015 he completed his first tour as Senior Enlisted Leader for R-MTOC, Bahrain detachment.
In 2017, he was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer, and served Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center (ECRC) as the Mobilization Processing LCPO, where he supported the Deployment and Redeployment of 3,500 Sailors annually in support of contingency operations, and designed the framework that enabled distributed mobilization. In 2021, he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Coalition Task Force Sentinel, an eight nation-member Task Force led by a UK 1-Star Flag Officer, and was the acting CSEL for Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), a 34 nation-member Coalition led by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet, supporting maritime safety and capacity building in the COMFIFTHFLT Area of Responsibility.
In 2022, he was selected to support COMNAVRESFOR as the Enlisted Leader Development (ELD) Program Manager, and the Reserve Force Suicide Prevention Program Manager (SPPM). He currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for RESTALACQGRU Southeast.
Senior Chief Walsh, is a graduate of the CMC/COB Capstone course, and the US Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (RC62, Brown). He also completed the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) I & II, Senior Leader Legal Course (SLLC), the Reserve Senior Enlisted Management (RSEM), and the Navy Reserve Unit Management (NRUM) courses.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one award), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Enlisted Information Warfare qualification, and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification.
