Commander Rich Sealy grew up in a military household living in Asia (Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Philippines) and several locations within the Continental United States before his family settled in Tampa, Florida. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Business from Florida State University and received his commission in 2002 from Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.  He earned his Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island in 2015.  

 

Sealy served onboard the USS NASSAU (LHA 4) from 2004 to 2006 as the Automated Data Processing Officer and Second Division Officer.  He next served onboard the USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) from 2006 to 2008 as the Damage Control Assistant.  After his first two Division Officer tours, he served as the Training Officer at Navy Reserve Component Command Southwest in San Diego from 2008 to 2009.  Sealy returned to sea for his Department Head tour as Operations Officer onboard the USS JARRETT (FFG 33) from 2010 to 2011 where he De-Commissioned the ship.  His next assignment was as Operations Officer (and plank owner) onboard the USS FORT WORTH (LCS 3), Crew 104 from 2011 to 2014.  

 

Following his Department Head tours, he attended the Naval War College as a resident student from 2014 to 2015.  He served as Commanding Officer of Navy Operational Support Center Augusta, Georgia from 2015 to 2017.  After his first command tour, he served as the Operational Support Officer at Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group (NAVELSG) in Williamsburg, Virginia from 2017 to 2019.  Commander Sealy assumed Command of Navy Reserve Center Las Vegas, Nevada in 2019 where he served as Commanding Officer until 2022.   CDR Sealy served as the Chief Staff Officer at Navy Reserve Region Readiness and Mobilization Command, Jacksonville, Florida from September 2022 to April 2024.  He is currently serving as the Commanding Officer of Reserve Talent Acquisition Group Southeast.

 

His military decorations include multiple Meritorious Service Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as various campaign medals and unit citations.

 

He and his wife, Nicole, have two daughters, Sakura (22) and Amaya (18).
