Navy Counselor Master Chief Ortiz enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 21th September 2000. Upon completion of Recruit Training Command and Seaman "A" School at Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, IL, he reported onboard USS Saipan (LAH-2) while at Naval Beach Group Two.
 

In April 2001, he was assigned to Assault Craft Unit Two (ACU-2) in Little Creek VA, as Deck Operator. He provided combat ready landing craft to operational commanders in support of amphibious and Maritime Pre-Positioning Force (MPF).
 

His next assignment was onboard of USS Tortuga (LSD-46) as a Work Center Supervisor for S-1 Division. Here he was advanced to Petty Officer Second Class for flawlessly obtaining a hundred percent in the supply management assessment.
 

In February 2005, he reported to the Enlisted Navy Recruiter Orientation (ENRO) in Pensacola, FL, for recruiting school for his assignment to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) New York. In April 2005, he reported to Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) East Brunswick, NJ. In June 2006, he was assigned as Recruiter in Charge of NRS Kings Plaza.
 

In March 2008, he transferred to the Navy Reserve where he was recalled to active duty to work as a Reserve Recruiter in NRD Miami. In June 2009, he was selected to be part of the Navy Counselor Career Recruiter Force (NC-CRF) and took over as the Leading Petty Officer (LPO) at NRS Miami Metro.
 

In June 2011, he attended the CRF Academy. After school he reported to NRD New York and was selected as Division Leading Chief Petty Officer (DLCPO) for Division three, for his continuity commitment to success and dedication he was also selected as DLCPO of the Year for FY12.
 

In September 2014, Master Chief Petty Officer Ortiz reported to NRD Raleigh and was assigned as the DLCPO of Division Six and Assistant Chief Recruiter. Master Chief Ortiz was also selected as DLCPO of the year FY15.
 

In November 2017 Master Chief Petty Officer Ortiz reported to Navy Recruiting Command, Millington TN where his initial assignments were N7, Region West Trainer and lastly as Enlisted Policy & Program Department LCPO N35.
 

In December 2020 Master Chief Ortiz Reported to NTAG Jacksonville to lead TAOC Orlando where he assumed the Duties and Responsibilities of Director of Personnel and Operations (DPO), and ACR for NTAG Jacksonville. His TAOC was selected as TAOC of the year FY21.
 

In March 2023, Master Chief reported to Navy Recruiting Reserve Command and is currently slated as the Reserve Talent Acquisition Group Northeast Chief recruiter. Master Chie is a graduate from The Senior Enlisted Academy, Ashford University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management, and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Louisiana State University. He is fluent speaking in Russian and Spanish languages.
 

His military decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5th), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (8th), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Union Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (6th), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forced Expedionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon (4th), 40 Recruiting Gold Wreaths and various service and campaign awards. He is also entitled to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Insignia.
