Command Senior Chief, Jovon Wells, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia, comes from a military family, son of a retired Navy veteran and a 2003 graduate of Western Branch High School.  In 2004, he joined the Navy and underwent training at the Recruit Training Command located in Great Lakes, IL. After finishing basic training, he attended Hospital Corpsman "A" School in Great Lakes, IL.

 

His sea duty assignments include Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO (ACB-2), USS AMERICA (LHA 6), numerous deployments with SEAL Team FIVE, SEAL Team SEVENTEEN, USS CURTS (FFG 38), and Third Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. 

 

His shore assignments include Maritime Expeditionary Security Group TWO (MESG TWO), Navy Reserve Center Norfolk,  4th Medical Battalion, Headquarters and Services Company, Naval Special Warfare Group ELEVEN, Surface Warfare Medical Institute, San Diego, CA, Naval Personnel Command, PERS-95 Branch, and Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. 

 

In February 2024, Senior Chief Wells was selected for the Command Senior Chief program. He has successfully completed the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 266) and the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 230). Senior Chief Wells possesses two Master of Science Degrees in Management and Organizational Leadership from Excelsior University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Arts with a specialization in Administrative Management Studies and Health Professions from Excelsior University, and an Associates in Health Sciences from George Washington University. 

 

Senior Chief Wells holds the designations of Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Surface Warfare Specialist, Aviation Warfare Specialist, Information Warfare Specialist, and Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist. He has received several personal decorations, including five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, nine Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, a Combat Action Ribbon, an Expert Rifle Medal, an Expert Pistol Medal, and various campaign and unit decorations. He is most proud of those awards that reflect the hard work and success of the many teams he has been privileged to serve.
