Command Master Chief Chris Kemp is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he graduated from Nova High School in 2002. Upon completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes in 2002, he reported to his first command as an undesignated seaman.
 
His sea tours include USS CARR FFG 56 (2002-2004) completing his first deployment as an undesignated seaman, USS LEYTE GULF CG 55 (2004-2007) as a Quartermaster Third Class executing a second deployment, USS THE SULLIVANS DDG 68 (2011-2012) as a QM1, during which time he led his division though a successful INSURV inspection and a 5th Fleet deployment. He also served aboard USS SAMUEL B ROBERTS FFG 58 (2012-2015), completing two deployments and a Joint Warrior Exercise; and USS BILLINGS LCS 15 Blue Crew (2018-2023) as the Assistant Navigator. While attached to BILLINGS, he conducted two sail-arounds through the Great Lakes out of the build yard and completed his sixth and seventh deployments.
 
His shore tours include Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville, FL (2007-2011), where he shared opportunities within the Navy. As a Naval Science instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland (2015-2018), he taught future Officers the fundamentals of Navigation while earning his Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualification. Master Chief Kemp was selected to the Command Senior Chief Program in February 2022 and reported to USS WICHITA (LCS 13) (2023-2025) as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. He reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group Jacksonville in July 2025 as the Command Master Chief.
 
Master Chief Kemp is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 252 (Green), and CMC/COB Class 23100. He holds a Master’s in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston, WV, a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and an Associate’s degree from Excelsior University.
 
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), Navy Good Conduct Medal (5), Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (8), United States Coast Guard Operations Medal (1), The NATO Article 5 Active Endeavour Medal (1), and numerous other unit campaign awards.
