Command Master Chief Ruben Diaz assumed his current duties as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Houston on 20 October 2023. Diaz is a native of San Antonio, TX. After graduating from Bloomington High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1996. He reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes before completing the Operations Specialist "A" School in Damneck. Virginia. Upon completion of his training, he reported to USS John Rodgers (DD 983). Subsequently, he rose through the ranks serving on board USS Warrior (MCM-10), USS Dextrous (MCM-13), USS La Moure County (LST 1194), MCM Squadron ONE and Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 15. His Command Master Chief sea tours include USS Portland (LPD 27), USS Gary (FFG 51) and LCS CREW 103 onboard USS Detroit (LCS 7) and USS Fort Worth (LCS 3). His shore assignments include Mine Warfare Training Center, Texas and Navy Personnel Command, Tennessee. His Command Master Chief shore tours include Beach Master Unit ONE and Commander, Surface Division ELEVEN. He has earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Park University, he completed the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 179/Gold Crew) and the United States Navy Command Leadership School. His personal and unit awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (nine awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
