Master Chief Garciasalas was born in Guatemala, Central America and raised in Albuquerque NM. He graduated from Cibola High School in May 1992.

He enlisted in the Navy after high school in August 1992. Master Chief Garciasalas then completed Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL and graduated from Engineman “A” school. He reported to his initial Command, Naval Amphibious Construction Battalion One in April 1993, located at NAB Coronado, CA. Some of his duties included Barge Fairy Chief Engineer and outboard shop supervisor.

Was released from active duty and joined the New Mexico Army National Guard in August 1996. Eight months later he transferred into the Navy Reserve as a drilling reservist until recalled as a Navy Reserve Recruiter in June 1998. He was assigned to NMCRC Albuquerque where he served as a recruiter until May 2002. During this tour he advanced to Petty Officer First Class and also converted to Career Recruiting Force.

After transferring from Albuquerque, he reported to Naval Reserve Recruiting Area South, NMCRC Broken Arrow, OK for duties as Recruiter in Charge where served from May 2002 to May 2005. He then transferred to NRD Indianapolis and was selected to Chief Petty Officer before reporting onboard. He served as Recruiter in Charge NOSC Cincinnati, NRS Eastgate and NRS Florence. During this tour he qualified as Zone Supervisor and was assigned as the Dayton Zone Supervisor. Following his tour at NRD Indianapolis he reported to Navy Recruiting District Phoenix for duties as Zone Supervisor for El Paso and Southern New Mexico from March 2008 to June 2012. He reported to Navy Recruiting Command Millington, TN as a member of the National Inspections/Training team as a field inspector/trainer. He was selected to Senior Chief and Qualified Assistant Chief Recruiter. He reported to Navy Recruiting District San Diego, CA as the Assistant Chief Recruiter December 2015 to October 2018. During this tour he qualified Chief Recruiter and was select to Master Chief Petty Officer. He reported to Navy Recruiting District Atlanta in November 2018 to July 2021. During this tour he transformed the District to a Navy Talent Acquisition Group with three Talent Acquisition Onboarding Centers. He reported to Navy Recruiting Command N3R Chief Recruiter in August 2021 and started the transformation to Navy Recruiting Reserve Command.

Master Chief is currently serving as the Chief Recruiter for Navy Recruiting Reserve Command.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Edal; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (four awards); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four); Army Achievement Medal and various service and campaign awards.

Master Chief Garciasalas is happily married to Elizabeth with three children, Adrianna 30, Alejandro 28 and Alyssa age 19.
