CDR Rob Terranova, Jr. is a native of Syracuse, New York. He is a 2010 graduate of LeMoyne College, where he earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Finance and Business Marketing with a minor in Philosophy. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island, in January of 2011.

His first Division Officer tour included two deployments to the 7th Fleet AOR, containing a Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training deployment to Southeast Asia and assignments as Auxiliaries Officer, Force Protection Officer, and Weapons Officer onboard USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93), home ported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In July 2013, he checked onboard USS CHINOOK (PC 9), assuming the role of Executive Officer, Operations Officer, and Navigator in the ever-challenging 5th Fleet AOR. There, he earned the Commander, Patrol Squadron ONE Ship Handler of the Year Award in back-to-back years (2013-2014) and finished second both years in COMNAVSURFLANT competitions. In 2015, CDR Terranova reported to the Navy Recruiting District Raleigh as the Recruiting Operations Officer, where he was redesignated as a Human Resources Officer. CDR Terranova graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, in March of 2019 with a Master of Science in Management concentrating in Manpower Systems Analysis. CDR Terranova also holds a Master of Business Administration from North Carolina State University, which he completed in 2019. He has served as the Chief Staff Officer for Navy Recruiting Region WEST, Commanding Officer of Phoenix MEPS, and both as the National Officer Programs Officer and National Enlisted Programs Officer at Navy Recruiting Command before transferring to his current position as the Executive Officer of NTAG Jacksonville.

CDR Terranova is a graduate of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) I and II and holds his Professional Human Resources Certification. Rob and his wife, Beth, were married in 2018; they have two sons, Trey and Jackson.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and various other unit, campaign, and service awards.
