Commander Anthony Bryant hails from Shreveport, Louisiana and is a 2006 graduate of Savannah State University, earning his commission through Navy ROTC. His Division Officer tours were in USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) and USS Carr (FFG 52). He completed Department Head tours as the Operations Officer in USS Gridley (DDG 101) and Destroyer Squadron 50 / Commander, Task Force 55. As the Operations Officer at Task Force 55, he planned and executed maritime operations to promote security and stability in the U.S. FITH Fleet Area of Operations. As Executive Officer of USS Normandy (CG 60), he deployed to Commander, U.S. SIXTH Fleet in support of the GERALD R. FORD Carrier Strike Group’s inaugural combat deployment. NORMANDY executed duties of the Air and Missile Defense Commander for two deployments during Bryant’s tour.
Ashore, he served as a Battle Watch Captain (BWC) and Fleet Watch Officer for Commander, Naval Forces Central Command / U.S. FIFTH Fleet from March 2011 to June 2013. As BWC, Bryant directed the actions of 11 Task Forces during numerous maritime operations across the Central Command Area of Responsibility. Following this tour, he reported to Surface Warfare Officers School Command as a Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) and Full Mission Bridge (FMB) Instructor until 2014 prior to Department Head School. As a COVE and FMB instructor, Bryant mentored Division Officers in ship handling skills and warfighting tactics. From Jan 2018 to Jun 2020, he served as the Action Officer for both the Assistant Chiefs of Staff for Force Material Readiness and Force Current Readiness to Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic. From Jun 2020 to Jun 2021, Bryant served as the Deputy Director of Current Operations to Commander, U.S. SECOND Fleet. He reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group Richmond as the Executive Officer in February 2025.
Bryant is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal, in addition to various service and unit awards. Bryant is joined in Richmond by his wife Tonika and three kids, Eli, Aiden, and Evette.
