CDR Lacey is from Gilbert, AZ and was commissioned through the NROTC program at the University of Arizona in 2008, earning a bachelor’s in Engineering Management. He received support from the Navy’s Graduate Education Voucher program and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 2017. In October 2025, he reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group, Phoenix as the Executive Officer.

In 2009, CDR Lacey reported for initial flight training in Pensacola, Florida. He selected the MH-60R Seahawk and earned his Naval Aviator wings in March, 2011. As a Junior Officer, he served with the Battlecats of HELICOPTER MARITIME SQUADRON 73 (HSM-73) in San Diego, California. While onboard, he completed deployments embarked with USS FREEDOM (LCS-1), USS BUNKER HILL (CG-52), and USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70). In 2017, he reported to the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71) as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer (aka “Shooter”) and completed one deployment while serving as a Division Officer within the Air Department. CDR Lacey reported to the Raptors, HELICOPTER MARITIME SQUADRON 71 (HSM-71) as a department head in 2020. With the Raptors, he served as the Maintenance Officer and deployed embarked on USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72).

Ashore, in 2015 CDR Lacey reported to HELICOPTER TRAINING SQUADRON 28 (HT-28), the Hellions, in Milton, Florida. Most recently, his family explored Europe serving with United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany as a Joint Operations Center watch officer and the Executive Officer to the Director of Operations, J-3.

CDR Lacey’s service is made possible by his wife, Shellie, and three daughters, Tess, Danica, and Megan.  He has accumulated over 2,500 flight hours in the MH-60R Seahawk, TH-57 Jetranger, and T-34 Turbomentor. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
