Commander James Henry Lambert graduated from Auburn University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and English and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2009. He earned a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2023. His afloat tours have been aboard USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) as the Communications Officer; USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) as the Electronic Materials; USS MASON (DDG 87) as the Plans and Tactics Officer; MULTI-MISSION SUPPORT VESSEL (MMSV) KELLIE CHOUEST as the Officer-in-Charge; and USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) as the Plans and Tactics Officer.
He also served as the Combat Systems Officer at the Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit Dam Neck and as the Naval Science Instructor at the Marine Corps University Expeditionary Warfare School. His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign awards. He is qualified as a Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer. He is married with four children.
