Chief Recruiter - NTAG Empire State

Master Chief Stephen Callaghan, a native of Kearny, New Jersey, enlisted in the United States Navy in Sept 1999. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois, where he completed Seaman Apprenticeship training. 

 

Upon graduation, he reported for duty 2nd Division deck department onboard the USS Seattle (AOE 3), and later designated as a Damage Controlman. He was onboard USS Seattle from 1999-2004.

 

He reported onboard NRD Philadelphia where he was a standout recruiter, being meritoriously advanced to Damage Controlman 1st Class.  In 2008, he was selected to the Career Recruiting Force. After completion of the CRF academy he reported onboard NRD New York.  He served as recruiter-in-charge of NRS Jersey City and LPO of NRS Tinton Falls. After performing his duties admirably, he earned his Zone Supervisor Qualification and was hand selected to run Division 6 and Division 5 from July 2009-2010. In August 2010 he was selected to Chief Petty Officer where he continued to run Division 5 from 2010-2013.

 

In February 2013, Chief Callaghan reported to NRD New England.  He was in charge of the largest market in New England, encompassing the States of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, winning DLCPO of the Year. In June 2015, he was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer where he earned his Assistant Chief Recruiter Qualification. 

 

Master Chief Callaghan was slated to NRD Philadelphia where he served as the Assistant Chief Recruiter both Officer and Enlisted from December 2016-2018. He was hand selected and screened to become the Region East Assistant Chief Recruiter from March 2018 - December 2019, where he was selected for Master Chief.  While at Region East, he earned his Chief Recruiter Qualification and was slated to NTAG Philadelphia to serve as the Chief Recruiter where he served until April 2022.

 

Master Chief Callaghan now serves as the Chief Recruiter for NTAG Empire State.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Business Management from Post University and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 208 Red Group.

  

His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), Good Conduct Medal (6 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.

 

Master Chief Callaghan is married to the former Kimberly Moree of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has two children, Robert and Zachary.
