CAPT James Prouty is a native of Brewster, New York, and the son of a United States Marine. In 1992, he enlisted in the World’s Finest Navy as an Electronics Technician and reported onboard USS ANNAPOLIS (SSN 760), deploying to the Mediterranean in 1994.

In July 1995, CAPT Prouty reported to the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School as a midshipman candidate and graduated in the spring of 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering.

He was commissioned as an Ensign. As an officer at sea, CAPT Prouty served as Division Officer aboard USS HENRY M JACKSON (SSBN 730G), Weapons Officer aboard USS HOUSTON (SSN 713), and Executive Officer aboard the Pre-Commissioning Unit ILLINOIS (PCU 786).

Ashore, CAPT Prouty served as a Division Chief at the Joint Special Operations Command, as an Action Officer on the OPNAV N81 Accessions and Integration staff, Commanding Officer of Navy Reserve Center Columbus, Ohio, Reserve Program Director for Commander Submarine Forces Pacific, Commanding Officer of the Navy Reserve’s premier Reserve Center in Norfolk, Virginia, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Training at the Navy Reserve Forces Command.

CAPT Prouty completed his graduate studies at the Naval Postgraduate School and Naval War College holding a Master of Science in Operational Analysis and Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.

CAPT Prouty is the recipient of various personal decorations and campaign medals and has had the distinct honor of serving alongside some of our finest warriors on teams recognized with unit awards.
