A native of Indianapolis, Indiana. Command Master Chief Shedd earned his Associate of Science in Administrative Management Studies in 2015 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes in February 2007.

CMDCM Shedd attended Sonar Technician Apprentice “A” School and AN/SQS-56 Technician “C” School in San Diego, CA. His first duty assignment was onboard USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG-60) from 2008-2012, stationed out of Everett, Wa. During his tour he was promoted up through First Class Petty Officer and completed two Southern Pacific deployments in U.S. Fourth Fleet AOR. CMDCM Shedd earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) insignia while onboard in April 2009.

His next tour was at Center Surface Combat Systems Detachment San Diego from 2012-2017 where he served as an Advanced Tactics Instructor and Course Supervisor for the Anti-Submarine - Advanced Warfare Training (ASW- AWT) course of instruction. During his tour he earned his Master Training Specialist designation and was Selected and Accepted as a Chief Petty Officer in September 2015. Following his instructor tour, he reported to USS MOMSEN (DDG-92) from 2017-2022 where he served as Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer for Plans and Tactics and Weapons Departments.

CMDCM Shedd was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in September 2020. During his tour he earned his Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist (EAWS) insignia, completed one Western Pacific deployment in U.S. Seventh Fleet, and served as the Command’s Senior Enlisted Leader prior to reporting to USS John Paul Jones (DDG-53) in January 2022. Onboard John Paul Jones, he served as Department Leading Chief Petty Officer for Weapons department until he transferred in July 2023 to report to USS Marinette (LCS-25) as the Command Senior Chief.

In April 2024, he was promoted to Command Master Chief. He has been the Command Master Chief for Navy Talent Acquisition Group, Ohio River Valley since July 2024. CMDCM Shedd’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Two Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Six Awards), Military Outstand Volunteer Service Medal (One Award), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and Plankowner of the LPO Legacy Academy and USS Marinette (LCS 25). CMDCM Shedd is a graduate of the Foundry (Class 002), the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 225 – 2021 – Red Team), and the CMC/COB Course (Class 31101).
