Cmdr. Elizabeth E. McMullen is a native of Lynn, Massachusetts. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from University of Colorado and a Master of Arts in English from National University.
Enlisting in the Navy as a Cryptographic Technician (Collection) (CTR) August 31, 2000, Cmdr. McMullen’s first duty station was onboard USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) working in the Operations Intelligence (OI) division. While there she earned the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist device.
Cmdr. McMullen was commissioned through the Seaman-to-Admiral Program in May 2006 and earned her Surface Warfare Officer pin in August 2007.
Cmdr. McMullen’s sea duty assignments as a Naval officer include USS CHOSIN (CG 65) as 1st Lieutenant Division Officer and USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer.
Ashore, Cmdr. McMullen has served as Force Protection Officer and Director of International Engagement (N52), Information, Plans and Strategy and Director of Warfighter Development (N7) at Mine Countermeasures Squadron (MCMRON) 5/Commander, Task Force (CTF) in Manama, Bahrain; Assistant Operations Officer (N3A) at Afloat Training Group San Diego (COMATG SD); Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Tactical Employment Trainer and Exercise Designer at Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC) Detachment San Diego; Director of Training and Executive Officer at Afloat Training Group Western Pacific; and Assistant Operations Officer and Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) Director at Headquarters, Naval Surface & Mine Warfighting Development Center. She is also a graduate of the Anti-Submarine Warfare / Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course.
Cmdr. McMullen’s current assignment is with Navy Talent Acquisition Group Southwest as Executive Officer.
Cmdr. McMullen has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation medal and Navy Achievement medal. She has earned various personal, unit, and service awards.
