Senior Chief Jose Feliz was born on 17 June 1982 in Harlem, New York. He graduated from South Bronx Job Corps in Bronx, NY in 2002. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and shipped to Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois; then, seamanship apprentice school in October 2002.

 

In February 2009, he transferred to Navy Orientation Recruiting Unit in Pensacola, FL and earned the NEC 9585. He then reported to Navy Recruiting District New York in March 2009. During his tour in New York, he earned numerous awards including distinguished graduate, large station of the year Region East, large station of the year, leading petty officer of the year and most improved station of the year. He later converted to career recruiter in November 2011. In April 2012, he transferred to NORU for Career Recruiting Force School. His class was awarded the first ever in recorded history to be named Hall of Fame, in addition, he was voted most likely to succeed.

 

In June 2012, then NC1 Feliz, transferred to Navy Recruiting District Miami. He was selected to become a chief petty officer in September 2013. During his tour in NRD Miami, his team earned numerous awards including a sweep of small, medium, large, recruiter, rookie recruiter, division and DLCPO of the year FY15 and FY16. This was the highlight of his career in addition to having eight new CPO’s advanced under his leadership.

 

In July 2016, he transferred to Navy Recruiting District Denver. He was selected for senior chief petty officer in June 2017. During this tour he earned his assistant chief recruiter qualification. NCCS Feliz assisted in the transformation of NRD Denver to Navy Talent Acquisition Group Rocky Mountain and was later awarded NTAG of the nation FY18.

 

In September 2018, Senior Chief Feliz transferred to NTAG Pittsburgh as the director of personnel and operations for both TAOC Syracuse and TAOC Steel City. During this tour, his recruiters were awarded talent scout, assessor and onboarder of the nation. NCCS Feliz is currently assigned to NTAG Richmond as their chief recruiter.

 

Senior Chief Feliz has obtained his Associates of Arts degree and earned several military awards including six Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, seven Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals, Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various campaign medals.
