CDR Timothy Washburn, a native of Burke, VA, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Economics. He was designated a naval aviator in February 2009 after completing advanced rotary-wing training at Naval Air Station Whiting Field.

CDR Washburn’s sea tours include service as squadron NATOPS Officer and Legal Officer with the “Wildcards” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two Three (HSC-23), Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer, V-2 Division Officer and “Topcat”, onboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), and the Maintenance Department Head with the “Dragon Whales” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two Eight (HSC-28). His sea time includes deployments onboard USNS Bridge in support of US 5th Fleet Operations, USS Cleveland (LDP-7) in support of PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP, an extended underway onboard USS Eisenhower (CVN-72) in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, and Detachment Officer-in-Charge on board USS Bataan (LHD-5) in support of US 5th & 6th Fleet Operations.

His shore assignments include service as a TH-57C Instructor Pilot, and Formation Stage Manager, for the “Vigilant Eagles” of Helicopter Training Squadron One Eight (HT-18). Additionally, CDR Washburn served as the Wargames Branch Chief for the Director of Test at the Missile Defense Agency onboard Schriever SFB.

CDR Washburn currently serves as the Executive Officer of the Navy Talent Acquisition Group Pittsburgh stationed in Pittsburgh, PA.

Washburn has flown over 3,350 flight hours in the MH-60S and TH-57C. He has completed the USMC Command and Staff course and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), and various unit level awards.
