Warren Overton

Commander Warren Overton enlisted in the Navy out of Marietta, Ohio in August, 1993. Upon graduation from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes he reported to USS Ponce (LPD-15) as a fireman recruit. While on Ponce he struck into the machinist mate (MM) rating and made deployments to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
At the completion of his term of enlistment, he enrolled in The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Cmdr. Overton graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in materials science and engineering. After graduating from OSU, he was commissioned through officer candidate school on November 9, 2001 in Pensacola, Florida. He then attended the surface warfare officer division officer course and six years later the surface warfare officer department head course, both in Newport, Rhode Island.
He has completed six sea tours as an MM on Ponce, electrical officer/auxiliaries officer on USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, operations officer for MHC Crew Aggressive on USS Osprey (MHC 53), stationed in Ingleside, Texas, chief engineer on USS Hawes (FFG 53), damage control assistant on USS Enterprise (CVN 65), and as the executive officer of USS Arlington (LPD-24). He has deployed in Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Fleet areas of operation.
His shore tours have included teaching at surface warfare officers school. While there, he earned a Master of Business Administration in 2009 from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. He served as an assessor for engineering assessments Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia and as current operations officer at Naval Surface Forces Atlantic. He currently serves as commanding officer for Navy Talent Acquisition Group Ohio River Valley.
