A native of Severn, Maryland, CDR Beads is a 2007 graduate of Morehouse College and commissioned through the Naval ROTC program. He also holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
At sea, CDR Beads served onboard USS PORTER (DDG 78) as the Combat Electronics Officer and Strike Warfare Officer, completing two deployments in support of counter-piracy operations. His follow on tour was as Operations Officer and Executive Officer onboard PC Crew BRAVO embarked in USS HURRICANE (PC 3), USS SQUALL (PC 7) and USS TYPHOON (PC 5), where he completed a deployment to the FIFTH FLEET Area of Responsibility.
After graduating from Department Head School, CDR Beads served as Operations Officer onboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73), completing a deployment as part of the Pacific Surface Action Group. He then reported to USS ANCHORAGE (LPD 23) as the Operations Officer, deploying with the ESSEX Amphibious Ready Group. As Executive Officer onboard USS HERSHEL “WOODY” WILLIAMS GOLD, he conducted multiple missions, exercises and port visits in the AFRICOM/SIXTH FLEET Area of Responsibility.
Ashore, CDR Beads served as Cruise Missile Tactical Qualification Instructor and Surface Warfare Division Officer at Afloat Training Group - San Diego, Defense Fellow in the office of U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, and Head Promotion Planner on the staff of the Chief of Naval Personnel (OPNAV N131). He reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group - New England, as Executive Officer, in October 2023.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (two awards).
