Commander Benjamin Fischer graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in nuclear engineering and commissioned through officer candidate school. After successful completion of the Navy nuclear power training pipeline, he reported aboard the USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735) (BLUE) where he qualified in submarines and served as damage control assistant, tactical systems officer, and assistant operations officer.

 

Cmdr. Fischer then completed a global war on terror support assignment in Camp Victory, Iraq and a tour at Trident Training Facility Bangor, Washington as a tactics instructor. In 2011, he lateral transferred to the human resources officer community through a tour at Navy Recruiting Region West in Millington, Tennessee. Fischer next reported as officer in charge, Personnel Support Detachment Yokosuka, Japan where he was responsible for pay, personnel, and travel actions for Navy personnel and dependents across Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Diego Garcia. He then served at Navy Recruiting District Ohio as the operations officer. In April 2019, he reported as executive officer to Navy Recruiting District St. Louis where it underwent Transformation into Navy Talent Acquisition Group Mid America.

 

Commander Fischer earned a Master's Degree from Old Dominion University in engineering management and a professional in human resources certification. He is the recipient of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and numerous Navy Commendation and Navy Achievement Medals.
