Commander Serrano received her commission through Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Carnegie Mellon University in 2004. Her assignments include electrical officer aboard USS Nashville (LPD-13), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia; auxiliaries officer aboard the USS Klakring (FFG-42), homeported in Mayport, Florida; reconciliation and engagements cell, Multi-National Corps-Iraq, Baghdad; executive 0fficer, J-35 future operations, United States Southern Command, Miami, Florida; assistant operations officer, Navy Recruiting District Miami; manpower analyst, N1 total force manpower, Naval Education and Training Command, Pensacola, Florida and commanding officer, Phoenix Military Entrance Processing Station.
Cmdr. Serrano’s military education includes Joint Professional Military Education and College of Naval Command and staff. Also, she earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology, University of Pittsburgh; a Master of Business Administration, University of Florida; a Master of Arts in national security and strategic studies, Naval War College; and a professional in human resources certification.
