Hailing from Stuttgart, Arkansas, “The Rice & Duck Capital of the World”, Commander Eric “Bip” Alexander entered the U.S. Navy on January 4, 1995.  Upon completion of basic training in Great Lakes, IL, he attended the Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Fuels (ABF) “A” School in Millington, TN, where he received entry level training on Aviation Fuel Systems.  He graduated from ABF “A” School on the morning of April 19, 1995, which was also the morning of the Oklahoma City Bombing.  His enlisted tours include: the USS WASP (LHD-1), in Norfolk, VA; Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC), Pensacola, FL; and the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71), in Norfolk, VA, where he would participate in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  In April 2005, he was selected as the Atlantic Coast Aviation Boatswain’s Mate of the Year and would promote to the rank of Chief Petty Officer that following September. Shortly afterwards, he was selected for the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) Commissioning Program and commissioned on February 1, 2007.  

 

His commissioned tours include: the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74), initially as the Crash and Salvage Officer and then as the Fuels Maintenance Officer, where he participated in Operation Enduring Freedom, for the second time, homeported in Bremerton, WA; the USS ESSEX (LHD-2), as the Crash and Salvage Officer, homeported in Sasebo, Japan; then after a successful “hull swap”, he served onboard the USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6), as the Crash and Salvage Officer, also homeported in Sasebo, Japan; the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73), as the Flight Deck Officer, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan; and after the historic three carrier hull swap, he served onboard the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76), as the Flight Deck Officer, also homeported in Yokosuka, Japan; COMNAVAIRPAC as the Force Fuels Program Officer, in San Deigo, CA; the USS NIMITZ (CVN-68), as the Aircraft Handling Officer (“Handler”), homeported in Bremerton, WA; Navy Personnel Command (NPC), as the Assistant Aviation LDO/CWO Assignments Detailer, in Millington, TN; and then he returned to NATTC, Pensacola, FL, as the ”Air Boss”, which was a full circle moment. Commander Alexander reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) New Orleans as the Executive Officer, in March 2025.

 

He has a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership Effectiveness from Troy University.
