Command Master Chief Tyler is a native of Oakland, California.  He graduated Will C. Wood High School in May 1999 and entered the United States Navy.  He attended Basic Training in Great Lakes, Illinois followed by Hospital Corpsman “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois and Field Medical Training “C” School in Camp Pendleton, California.
 
His sea duty assignments include: 1st Marine Logistics Group, embarked onboard the USS TARAWA (LHA-1), deployed to Iraq (OEF-1) for combat operations.  Second Battalion, Third Marines, deployed to northeast Afghanistan, Kunar Province (OEF) for combat operations.
 
1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, deployed twice to Helmand Province, Afghanistan (OEF 10-1 and 10-2) for counter-IED, route clearance and combat operations. III Marine Expeditionary Force, forward deployed on Okinawa, Japan.
 
His shore assignments include Naval Health Clinic Hawaii and instructor duty at Center for Security Forces Detachment Pearl Harbor.
 
Command Master Chief Tyler was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program in 2017.  He is an honor graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Khaki, 199) and completed the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 182).  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management degree and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration degree from Trident University International.
 
His Command Senior Enlisted Leader assignments include USS PIONEER (MCM 9) and USS GERMANTOWN, both Forward Deployed Naval Forces – Japan.  He is currently serving as Command Master Chief of Navy Talent Acquisition Group, Houston.
 
Command Master Chief Tyler earned the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Army Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.  He is a Master Training Specialist and qualified as Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (SW), Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist (FMF) and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (AW).
