Commander David M.Schaller commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering. He is originally from Denver, Colorado.
A career surface warfare officer, Commander Schaller's shipboard assignments include: USS O'KANE (DDG 77) as Repair Division Officer and Main Propulsion Division Officer, Training Officer for Commander, Destroyer Squadron21, Operations Officer for USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), Chief Engineer for USS DEWEY (DDG 105), Combat Systems Officer for USS CARNEY (DDG 64), Flag Secretary for Commander, Carrier Strike Group NINE, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS MONTEREY (CG 61). Ashore, he served as Combatant Craft Platoon Commander for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit ONE, completed a Master of Arts degree in Defense and Strategic Studies at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, Director of Fleet Enlisted Engineering Training for Surface Warfare Schools Command. Most recently he served as the Executive Officer for Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Houston.
