Commander Dave Aguilar enlisted in the Navy in 2000. After completing the enlisted nuclear power training pipeline he reported to the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as an Electronics Technician (Nuclear). During this tour he was selected for the Seaman to Admiral-21 program. In 2008 he commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer.

 

After commissioning, CDR Aguilar was assigned to the USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) as the Repair Division Officer. In 2010, he was assigned to Commander Destroyer Squadron 14 as a Staff Officer. 

 

In 2013, he converted to the Human Resources community. His first HR assignment was Navy Recruiting District St. Louis as the Recruiting Operations Officer. Following this tour, he reported to Recruit Training Command as a Ship’s Officer in 2016. He then assumed Command of the Spokane Military Entrance Processing Station in 2018. Following command, he reported to Naval Postgraduate School as a student in 2020. CDR Aguilar then served as the N11 Division Director at Navy Recruiting Command in 2022. He is currently assigned as the Executive Officer at Navy Talent Acquisition Group Heartland, Detroit MI.

 

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign awards.

 

Commander Aguilar is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the University of North Florida, a Master’s of Science in Instructional Systems from Florida State University, and a Master’s of Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School.
