Command Master Chief Javier Hernandez entered the U.S. Navy in January 2001 from Corpus Christi, TX.
Master Chief Hernandez's first duty assignment was on board LHA- 5 USS PELELIU.
His follow on duty assignments include: NAF El Centro Security Department, MESRON-3 DET Bahrain, Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa Harbor Patrol Unit, Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, NCIS Protective Operations Naples, Italy, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa.
He was selected for Command Master Chief (CMC) Program in 2019. His CMC tours include: Commander, Fleet Activities Chinhae, Naval Support Facility Deveselu, Romania, Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps-Virginia Military Institute. In October 2022, he reported to Tactical Operations Control Squadron TEN.
Throughout his career, he has completed deployments in the FIFTH, SIXTH, and SEVENTH FLEET areas of responsibilities and participated in operations: OPERATION VIGILANT MARINER, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
Master Chief Hernandez is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 211 (Gray) and CMC/COB Course Class 204. He earned his Master Training Specialist designation and was awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award. He holds an Associate’s degree with American Military University and is currently working on a Bachelor’s in Homeland Security. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), Navy Good Conduct Medal (7), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, and various meritorious unit decorations.
