Commander Mark Ramirez is a native of San Antonio, TX, and graduated from the Texas State University in 2007, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration. He earned his commission by completing Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2009. He earned his Naval Flight Officer Wings in 2011, graduated as an EA-6B Electronic Countermeasures Officer at the Fleet Replacement Squadron at NAS Whidbey Island with VAQ-129 "Vikings" in 2012, and transitioned to the EA-18G with the VAQ-142 "Gray Wolves" in 2015.

 

Commander Ramirez's operational assignments include a tour with VAQ-142, where he completed a 5th Fleet combat deployment aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. He deployed again aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) as the Electronic Warfare Representative for Carrier Air Wing 7 "Freedom Fighters," supporting Operations INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM'S SENTINEL and SPARTAN SHIELD. He also served as an Operational Department Head with the VAQ-130 "Zappers" and VAQ-144 "Devils," where he stood up the Navy's newest VAQ squadron.

 

Commander Ramirez's shore assignments include a VAQ-129 instructor tour, where he trained the next generation of Electronic Attack aviators. While there, he also served as the Legal Officer, NATOPS Officer, and Student Control Officer. Most recently, Commander Ramirez was the Lead Planner for Large Force Exercises in the Operations Directorate (J3X) at United States Strategic Command, Offutt AFB. After being selected for Special Mission Command, he and his wife, Danielle, relocated to Denver, where he began his assignment as the NTAG Rocky Mountain Executive Officer in March 2025. 

 

CDR Ramirez has over 1,600 flight hours in the EA-18G and other aircraft, including 200 carrier arrested landings and 21 combat missions. His awards include the Strike/Flight Air Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various other unit and campaign awards and ribbons.
