Cdr Christian. A. D’Angelo is a native of Post Falls, ID.  He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 and was designated a Surface Warfare Officer in 2010.  He completed his Master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies focusing on the Greater Middle East from the Naval War College in 2015 as well as the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course.

At sea, his assignments include Electrical Officer onboard USS Doyle (FFG 39), Fire Control Officer onboard USS Momsen (DDG 92), Operations Officer onboard USS Kidd (DDG 100), Operations Officer and Executive Officer onboard USS Hue City (CG 66), and N3 on Destroyer Squadron Seven Staff.

While on shore, he taught as a Class Officer and Instructor at Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and as IAMD WTI Course Lead at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Command, Surface Warfare Technical Division in Dahlgren, VA.

D’Angelo’s career includes experience from five deployments and operations on four continents in all numbered fleets.  He participated in UNITAS GOLD and SOUTHERN SEAS while deployed to Fourth Fleet.  He supported Operation Enduring Freedom with the Abraham Lincoln Strick Group in Fifth Fleet.  During his time with Nimitz Strike Group, he conducted numerous escort missions through the Bab-al-Mendab and the Strait of Hormuz as well as MALABAR with Japanese and Indian forces in Seventh Fleet.  While on Hue City, he supported NATO’s TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 in Sixth Fleet, which was one of the largest coordinated movement of military personnel and equipment since World War II.  He has most recently supported Surface Advanced Warfighting Tactical Training events and led the IAMD WTI course.
He joined the Navy in 2002 as a Machinist Mate (Nuclear).  After receiving training at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command and Nuclear Power Training Unit in Goose Creek, SC and a year in Newport, RI at the Naval Academy Preparatory School, he reported to Annapolis, MD as a Midshipman.
His personal award include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
