Command Master Chief Shane Ray Vandehey, a native of Lebanon, Oregon, comes from a military background; he is the son of an Air Force Mechanic, grandson of an Army Private First Class, and a Navy retired YNCS. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June of 2000.

His first command was aboard the USS Essex (LHD-2), where he was rated as a Machinists Mate. He then cross rated to Master-At-Arms and began his career in Security.  His sea duty assignments include Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Seven, USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74), Coastal Riverine Squadron One, USS Pioneer (MCM-9). He also completed two successful tours as an Individual Augmentee, the first to Iraq, and the second to Camp Lemonnier, in Djibouti.

While on shore duty, CMDCM Vandehey worked in security aboard NAS Lemoore, California, as a Senior Enlisted Advisor at Naval Support Activity Prospect Harbor, Maine, and Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, where he was selected to be a Command Senior Chief. He was promoted to Command Master Chief in March of 2024.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) as well as numerous individual awards, and multiple unit and campaign awards. He's a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, and has a General Studies Associates Degree through Columbia College.

He assumed the duties as Command Master Chief of Navy Talent Acquisition Group Pacific Northwest on 22 July 2024.
