Master Chief Hammonds is a native of Buena Vista, Georgia. After graduating from Tri-County High School in Sumter County, Georgia, she enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1994. She completed Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by Electrician’s Mate “A” school at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.
Master Chief Hammonds’ first duty assignment was aboard the USS Willamette AO-180, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She completed her shore duty assignment at Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 1, Hickam AFB, Hawaii in 1999. Her fleet assignments include USS Emory S. Land AS-39-Work Center Supervisor in 2003.
Master Chief Hammonds transferred to NRD Los Angeles, NRS Kapolei, Hawaii in August 2005. January 2006, she was advanced under the Command Advancement Program to Petty Officer First Class and selected to serve as Recruiter in Charge. She was selected for conversion to the Career Recruiting Force in 2007.
Master Chief Hammonds transferred November 2008; she went to NORU to complete her rating conversion. January 2009, she transferred to her first Career recruiter duty station, NRPS Guam, NRD Los Angeles-Recruiter in Charge. During this tour, she was promoted to Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Hammonds transferred to Navy Recruiting District Seattle in August 2012. She served as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer (DLCPO) of Division 5. During this tour, Master Chief Hammonds served as the DLCPO for two divisions. She was recognized as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer of the Nation and she was also advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Hammonds transferred to Navy Recruiting District St. Louis in August 2016. She served as the Assistant Chief Recruiter. During this tour, she served as the Acting Chief Recruiter -May 2017 through July 2017 until the Chief Recruiter reported onboard. In February 2018, she served as the Acting Chief Recruiter until August 2018.
Master Chief Hammonds was selected to serve as Region West Assistant Chief Recruiter August 2019. She advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer during this tour and slated as the Chief Recruiter to NTAG Pacific.
Master Chief Hammonds reported to NTAG Pacific February 2022 as the Chief Recruiter.
Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seventh award), National Division Leading Chief Petty Officer FY 14 along with various unit and campaign awards.
