CDR Ryan Donohue, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, graduated in 2007 from Campbellsville University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Justice Administration, and earned his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2009. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2016 with a Master of Arts in Homeland Security and Defense, and from the University of Florida in 2025 with a Masters in Business Administration.
At sea, he served as Auxiliaries Officer and Force Protection Officer aboard USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57); Damage Control Assistant aboard USS MCCLUSKY (FFG 41); and Chief Engineer aboard USS O’KANE (DDG 77).
His shore tours include lead damage control instructor and lead Junior Officer Surface Material Readiness Course instructor at Surface Warfare Officer School Command; Director of Material Readiness and Logistics (N4) for Commander, Destroyer Squadron One; Gas Turbine Deputy for Engineering Assessments Pacific, and Executive Officer for Mariner Skills Training Center Pacific in San Diego, CA.
He reported as Executive Officer of Navy Talent and Acquisition Group Pacific in October 2025.
CDR Donohue is qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit and service awards.
