Senior Chief Will Sanders is assigned as NTAG Northern Plains Chief Recruiter, in Minneapolis, MN.

 

Sanders is a native of Hampton, IA and graduated from Hampton Community High School in 1997. In January 2001, he enlisted in the Navy. He attended Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, IL. He then reported to Pensacola, FL., where he attended and graduated from Aircrew Survival Equipmentman¾ (PR) "A" school.

 

Sanders’ first permanent assignment was to the VAW-117 Wallbangers in Pt. Mugu, CA where he served as a squadron PR earning his EAWS and the qualifications of 13A&B CDI and CDQAR. In 2001 he served a deployment on USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and in 2003 he deployed aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 

In September 2004, Sanders reported to ENRO in Pensacola, Fla., to attend recruiting school for his assignment to NRD Minneapolis. In December 2004, he reported to NRS North St. Paul as a recruiter. In October 2005, he was assigned as Leading Petty Officer of NRS Midway where successfully turned around a failing station, then in October of 2007 he opened a new office in Mason City, IA as the LPO.

 

In June 2008, he was selected and attended the CRF Academy. Upon graduation he reported for duty to NRD Pittsburgh and assumed duties as the Leading Petty Officer of NRS Mechanicsburg. In January of 2009 Sanders was assigned as the Division 5 LCPO. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer during this tour in September of 2010 and was also selected as DLCPO of the Year for FY11.

 

In June of 2012 he reported for duty to NRD Miami to serve as the Division 2 Leading Chief Petty Officer. He was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in June of 2013 changed positions to become the Command Trainer. He earned his Assistant Chief Recruiter qualification in August of 2014 during this tour.

 

Sanders’ was slated to become the Assistant Chief Recruiter of NRD Minneapolis in March of 2015. He reported for duty as the ACR in May of 2015 where he is achieved his Chief Recruiter qualification. He was then re-assigned in January 2018 as the Region Three Transformation ACR in Millington TN. Upon completing 16 months at Region he was slated to become the Chief Recruiter at NTAG Northern Plains in June of 2019 where he is currently serving
  

Sanders decorations include Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. He is authorized to wear Navy Commendation Medal (three gold stars), Navy Achievement Medal (four gold stars), Meritorious Unit Commendation (one bronze star), Navy Unit Commendation (1 bronze star), Battle E, Navy Good Conduct Medal (four bronze stars), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expedition Medal, Sea Service Deployment (1 bronze star) and the Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon (four bronze stars) and 44 Recruiting Gold Wreaths.
