James P. Duvall

A native of Twentynine Palms, California and a 2002 graduate of the University of Southern California, Commander James P. Duvall was commissioned through Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. He earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of California, San Diego while ashore in 2010.
Cmdr. Duvall's sea duty assignments include duty in amphibious ships and aircraft carriers in the Pacific Fleet. During these tours, he deployed to the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Gulf of Aqaba, Western Pacific, and Indian Ocean areas of operation. He served as the first division officer onboard USS Boxer (LHD 4); machinery division officer onboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); first lieutenant onboard USS Comstock (LSD 45); and reactor electrical assistant onboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70).
Ashore, he has served on the Commander, Naval Air Forces Pacific staff as a maintenance coordinator in the carrier maintenance division (N43).
Prior to assuming the position of commanding officer, he served as executive officer of Navy Talent Acquisition Group Northern Plains and an assignment as executive officer aboard USS Freedom (LCS 1).
Duvall’s awards include multiple Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals, and several Unit and Campaign Awards.
