Master Chief McKenna hails from St. Louis, Missouri. He joined the United States Navy in November of 1993 as a fire control technician after graduating from Riverview Gardens Senior High School. He holds a Bachelor’s of Business Management degree from the University of Phoenix.

His commands include Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois; USS Gettysburg (CG-64) Mayport, FL; Navy Recruiting District St. Louis in St. Louis, MO; Navy Recruiting District Atlanta Marietta, GA where he served as a RINC/zone supervisor; Navy Recruiting Region West Millington, TN where he served as a region trainer and subsequently qualified as an assistant chief recruiter; Navy Recruiting District San Francisco Mountain View, CA where he was assigned as the assistant chief recruiter; Navy Recruiting Region West Millington, TN where he served as Region Wests assistant chief recruiter and N7 National Mobil Medical Recruiting Academy lead facilitator; RTC Great Lakes, IL where he was assigned as the chief recruiter of the recruit quality assurance Team; NRD St. Louis in St. Louis, MO where he served as the chief recruiter and transformed the NRD to what is now Navy Talent Acquisition Group Mid-America; Navy Talent Acquisition Group Golden Gate Mountain View, CA where he is currently serving as the chief recruiter.

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), Navy Expert Pistol Medal and various campaign and unit awards.
