Javier Muñoz
Command Master Chief - NTAG Golden Gate

Command Master Chief Javier Muñoz was born in Usulután, El Salvador and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Richmond, Calif. He attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. and Aviation Machinist’s Mate “A” school in Pensacola, Fl.
His first assignment was with the “Proud Warriors” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light FOUR TWO (HSL 42) where he deployed with USS Hawes (FFG 53) and USS Vicksburg (CG 69) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His other sea tours include the “Swamp Foxes” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light FOUR FOUR (HSL 44/HSM 74) and the “Eightballers” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron EIGHT (HSC 8) where he was pinned as Navy Chief Petty Officer. He deployed onboard USS Hue City (CG 66), USS Nimitz (CVN 68) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Muñoz is also a Plank Owner of Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Squadron FIVE ZERO (VRM 50).
His commands ashore include Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Site Mayport, Fl. and Navy Recruiting District San Francisco where he served as a recruiter at Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Salinas and as the Leading Petty Officer at NRS Santa Cruz, Calif.
He was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted program and has served as Command Senior Chief at Naval Support Facility Deveselu, Romania and the Naval Reserve Officer Training Unit San Diego, Cali.
He assumed the duties of Command Master Chief for Navy Talent Acquisition Group Golden Gate in August 2025.
Muñoz holds a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership from National University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentration in Management and a minor in Finance from POST University. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards) as well as numerous unit and campaign awards. He qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
