Tommy L. Edgeworth

Captain Tommy L. Edgeworth is a native of Pageland, SC enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1987 attending basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by Aviation Boatswain’s Mate A-School in Lakehurst, New Jersey.
His enlisted assignments included
USS Forrestal (CV 59), Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX-1), Navy Support Activity, Greece, and
USS George Washington (CVN 73).
In 1999, Captain Edgeworth commissioned as an ensign through the Limited Duty Officer Program. Upon commissioning, he reported onboard
USS Belleau (LHA 3) and
USS Essex (LHD 2) as the Fuels Maintenance Officer in Sasebo, Japan. In April 2002, he received orders to
USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) as the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment Maintenance Officer (ALREMO) in Yokosuka, Japan. In July 2005, he reported to COMNAVAIRPAC where he served as the Force ALRE Maintenance Officer, and after a successful shore tour, in July 2007, he reported to
USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the Flight Deck Officer, with follow-on orders in August 2010 to
USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), where he served as the Aircraft Handling Officer. While on VINSON, he completed back to back Western Pacific combat deployments in direct support of operation ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. In October 2013, Captain Edgeworth reported to COMNAVAIRPAC as the Force Air Systems Officer.
In September 2015, he reported to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Lemoore, CA as Executive Officer, and assumed the duties as the fourteen Commanding Officer in April 2017. Following his command tour, he reported to NAVSEA PEO Aircraft Carriers in November 2018 as the Assistant Program Manager for EMALS/AAG on CVN 79/80/81. In March 2023, Captain Edgeworth departed NAVSEA PEO Aircraft Carrier and reported to Navy Recruiting Command Region West as the Deputy Commodore in June 2023.
Captain Edgeworth academic achievements include a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in Business and Management, and a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership from Liberty University. As a member of the Acquisition Professional Community, he holds Level III Certifications in Program Management and Life Cycle Logistics. Additionally, he received the USS Carl Vinson Navy & Marine Corps Association Peer Leadership Award, and completed the Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I course through the Air Force Command and Staff College in 2019.
Captain Edgeworth’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (Three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Four awards), and various service campaign medals and ribbons.
