Master Chief Petty Officer Ashton is a native of St. Augustine Florida. He enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1993 and received basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois.

Master Chief Ashton’s’ previous commands include, USS Harlan County (LST-1196), USS Carney (DDG-64), USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), Navy Recruiting District Nashville, USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74), Center for Naval Engineering Learning Site Pearl Harbor, USS Ponce (LPD-15) where he served a command senior enlisted leader, USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19) where he was selected to master chief petty officer, Afloat Training Group Mayport, and Officer Training Command Newport where he served a command master chief.

He is currently serving as command master chief of Navy Talent Acquisition Group Philadelphia.

Master Chief Ashton is a graduate of the senior enlisted academy class 212 (Blue) and CMC/COB course. He is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six gold stars), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five gold stars), as well as other unit and campaign awards.
