Master Chief Smith is a native of the Pacific Northwest. He enlisted in the Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California in June 1991.

 

Master Chief Smith’s assignments include: 1ST Marine Division; Camp Pendleton, Calif; Marine Corps Recruit Depot; San Diego, Calif; Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook, Calif; Naval Support Activity Bahrain; Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory; Mobile Security Squadron 3, Det. 32 Coronado, Calif; Joint Task Force Bravo, Soto Cano Air
Base, Republic of Honduras; Naval Medical Center San Diego, Calif; USNS MERCY (T-AH-19) San Diego, Calif; Commander Navy Region Europe/Africa/Southwest Asia, Naples, Italy; Naval Support Facility Deveselu, Romania, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. and Coastal Riverine Group 2, Detachment Bahrain. In January 2019, he reported to his current assignment at Navy Recruiting District Miami, Flor. as the command master chief.

 

Master Chief Smith is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 175), command master chief/chief of the boat course (class 17120), and the U.S. Air Force Phoenix RAVEN program, where he earned his lifetime numeric identifier N95.

 

Master Chief Smith’s personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 gold stars), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 gold stars), and numerous campaign and unit awards.
