Master Chief Petty Officer Marlon Adrian Joseph was born in the island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. He graduated from Bishop’s High School, Tobago in 1990. He immigrated to the United States in 1992 and enlisted in the Navy in September that same year. He attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego Calif., and upon completion of basic training, he reported to fireman apprentice training where he was meritoriously advanced to
E-2 upon graduation.

Master Chief Joseph’s first assignment was aboard the USS Kansas City (AOR 3) in Alameda, Cailf., where he reported in January of 1993. He began his career as an undesignated fireman in the machinery division. After the ship decommissioned in 1994, he reported to gas turbine “A” school in Great Lakes, Ill. After graduating “A” school, he reported to USS Mahlon S. Tisdale (FFG 27) in May 1995, decommissioning the ship in 1996 and reporting to USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) where he was meritoriously advanced to petty officer second class. In October 1998 he reported to Military Entrance Processing Station, Portland, Ore., for duty as a processing specialist. After a successful tour Petty Officer Joseph reported to “C” school in Great Lakes, Ill. Following completion of “C” school, he reported to USS Monterey (CG 61) in February 2002 and served four years aboard, during which time he was advanced to both first class petty officer and chief petty officer.

His other tours included Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., 2006-2009, Assault Craft Unit Four, Little Creek, Va., (2009-2012) embarked in USS New York (LPD 21) where he was promoted to senior chief petty officer in 2012, Assault Craft Unit Five, Camp Pendleton, Calif., 2013-2013), USS Princeton (CG 59) 2013-2016.

He reported to NSA Lakehurst in March 2017 as the command senior chief and was promoted to command master chief in August 2017. In May 2018 he reported to Navy Recruiting District Atlanta where he currently serves as the command master chief.

Master Chief Joseph is an honor graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 184 (Blue group). He earned an associate’s degree from Coastline Community College. He was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in February 2015 and attended the command master chief/chief of the boat course in March, 2017.

His personal awards include The Meritorious Service Medal, The Navy Commendation Medals (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist insignia and the command pin.
