CNRC - Commander John R. Allen, a native of Maryland and third generation naval officer, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and a commission as an ensign in the United States Navy. Following his commission, he reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida for flight school and completed his follow on training in May 2006 with the 562nd Flying Training Squadron at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he received his “Wings of Gold” and designation as a Naval flight officer (NFO). In June 2006, Allen reported to the Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) E-6B Mercury Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, where he completed his initial fleet training with the “Roughnecks” of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (FAIRECONRON) Seven (VQ-7).
