Commander Michael “BC” Molloy is a native of Missoula, MT.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a focus on National Security Affairs.  After commissioning, he coached the Naval Academy Sprint Football team and reported to Pensacola, FL for aviation training.  He earned his Naval Aviator wings in April 2009.

After receiving initial MH-60S training with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO (HSC-2) at Naval Station Norfolk, VA, he reported to the ‘Chargers” of HSC-26 in Norfolk, VA.  Shortly after checking in, he deployed in support of Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE, supporting disaster relief efforts in response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.  Additionally, he deployed to FIFTH Fleet in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in the summer of 2010 and spring 2012.    His duties included Detachment Operations Officer, Assistant Tactics Officer, Squadron NATOPS Officer and squadron NATOPS instructor.  

After transition to the HH-60H airframe, CDR Molloy joined the “Red Wolves” of HSC-84 in Norfolk, VA in 2013, one of two Navy Helicopter squadrons designated as direct support to Special Operations Forces.  While there, he served as Squadron NATOPS Officer and NATOPS Instructor, Assistant Operations Officer, Detachment Operations Officer, and Assistant Maintenance Officer. He deployed twice to the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility supporting Crisis Response and multiple Joint and Coalition exercises.

In September 2015, CDR Molloy reported to Naval Special Warfare Sea, Air, Land (SEAL) Team FOUR at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, VA as Fires Support Officer, and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC).  While assigned to Team FOUR, he deployed in support of Special Operations Command Africa.

Following refresher training in the MH-60S.  He joined the “Firehawks” of HSC-85 in 2018. He deployed in support of Special Operations Command Pacific in 2019-2020, participating in multiple Joint and Coalition exercises in the INDOPACOM theater. His duties at HSC-85 included Assistant Operations Officer, Detachment Maintenance Officer, and Squadron Maintenance Officer.

In July 2021, CDR Molloy was assigned to Headquarters, United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) as a Joint Air Officer in the current operations division.  He most recently served as the Executive Assistant to the USSOCOM Director of Operations from October 2022 to July 2023.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various campaign/unit awards.

CDR Molloy is married to Amanda Molloy of Grove City, PA and they have two children and a happy yellow lab.
