Commander Rockholm is a native of Alton, IL. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in administration of justice and was designated as a Naval flight officer in November 2000.
After receiving initial P-3 training with Patrol Squadron THREE ZERO (VP-30) at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL, he reported to the “Grey Knights” of Patrol Squadron FOUR SIX (VP-46) in Whidbey Island, WA, in August 2001. He was designated as an instructor tactical coordinator and mission commander and deployed to FIFTH Fleet and SEVENTH Fleet flying multiple combat sorties directly supporting operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

In January of 2005, Commander Rockholm reported to the Pentagon as a VIP escort officer on the OPNAV Staff. There he was responsible for overall coordination of the Chief of Naval Operations Counterpart Visit Program and all actions in support of VIP visits assigned on behalf of the Chief of Naval Operations and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Commander Rockholm then reported aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in Everett, WA, as the Operations Department Administrative (OPSADMIN) Officer in October of 2007. During this tour, he deployed to FIFTH Fleet and earned his qualification as a command duty officer underway (CDO U/W) and officer of the deck underway (OOD U/W). He also received a Master of Science in global leadership from the University of San Diego.

In January of 2010, he deployed to FIFTH Fleet as a strategic master air attack planner at the Combined Air Operations Center. Filling a global war on terror support assignment (GSA) he was responsible for air power strategy, tasking and execution in support of operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

In October of 2010, Commander Rockholm joined the “Tridents” of Patrol Squadron TWO SIX (VP-26) in Jacksonville, FL, for his department head tour. While there, he deployed to FIFTH Fleet and served as admin officer, CTG-OPS officer, and maintenance officer. During his tour, VP-26 received multiple awards to include the Battle “E” and the Isbell trophy for ASW excellence.

In April of 2013, Commander Rockholm was assigned to U.S. Transportation Command where he served as a joint mobility officer/strategic plans officer and chief of plans branch, operations and plans directorate.
