Commander Rockholm is a native of Alton, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1999 with a bachelor of arts in administration of justice and was designated as a Naval flight officer in November 2000.


After receiving initial P-3 training with Patrol Squadron VP-30 at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, he reported to the “Grey Knights” of VP-46 in Whidbey Island, Washington, in August 2001. He was designated as an instructor tactical coordinator and mission commander and deployed to 5th Fleet and 7th Fleet flying multiple combat sorties directly supporting operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

In January of 2005, Rockholm reported to the Pentagon as a VIP escort officer on the OPNAV Staff. There he was responsible for overall coordination of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) counterpart visit program and all actions in support of VIP visits assigned on behalf of the CNO and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Rockholm then reported aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in Everett, Washington, as the operations department administrative (OPSADMIN) officer in October of 2007. During this tour, he deployed to 5th Fleet and earned his qualification as a command duty officer underway (CDO U/W) and officer of the deck underway (OOD U/W). He also received a Master of Science in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego.

In January of 2010, he deployed to 5th Fleet as a strategic master air attack planner at the Combined Air Operations Center. Filling a global war on terror support assignment (GSA) he was responsible for air power strategy, tasking and execution in support of operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.

In October of 2010, Rockholm joined the “Tridents” of VP-26 in Jacksonville, Florida, for his department head tour. While there, he deployed to 5th Fleet and served as admin officer, combined task group operations officer and maintenance officer.

In April of 2013, Rockholm was assigned to U.S. Transportation Command before reporting to Navy Recruiting District St. Louis as the executive officer.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (1st Strike), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign/unit awards.
