Master Chief Schultze assumed his current duties as the Navy Recruiting District St. Louis command master chief in February 2016.
In November 1987, he entered the Navy and completed training as a machinists mate in the Naval nuclear propulsion program.
His previous sea-duty assignments include USS Gurnard (SSN 662) machinery division, USS Parche (SSN 683) machinery division (two separate tours), USS Ohio (SSGN 726 BLUE) as engineering department master chief, Strike Fighter Squadron TWO (VFA-2) as command master chief, and Carrier Air Wing TWO (CVW-2) command master chief.
His shore duty assignments include Navy Recruiting District San Francisco nuclear field recruiter, Nuclear Power Training Unit Ballston Spa command career counselor, and the staffs of Commander Submarine Group Eight and Commander Task Force Six Nine as the senior enlisted leader, engineering department master chief, and material assistant (M).
His Navy training includes the command master chief course (class 91), senior enlisted academy (class 115 Blue), Navy scuba diver, and additional schools related to his rating specialty. He graduated from Northcentral University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude, in 2010. He earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership at Brandman University.
Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), and he has been privileged to serve on teams that have been awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy “E” (Battle Efficiency) Award, and the RADM C. Wade McClusky Award.
