CMDCM Kenneth J. Nixon, a native of Berlin, Germany, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1992. Following completion of basic training at Naval Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida, he reported to yeoman "A" school in Meridian, Mississippi. Nixon's previous assignments include: USS Dubuque (LPD 8), Sasebo, Japan; USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Alameda, California; Commander, Amphibious Squadron Five, San Diego, California; Secretary of the Navy, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia; Commander, Naval District Washington, Washington, District of Columbia; Armed Forces Inaugural Committee, Washington, District of Columbia; Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Three, San Diego, California; Commander, Carrier Strike Group Ten, Norfolk, Virginia; Commander, Navy Medicine National Capital Area and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, Operations, Plans and Strategy (OPNAV N3/N5B), Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia and Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet, Naples, Italy.

 

Nixon's academic achievements include a bachelor of arts degree from the University of South Carolina, flag writer yeoman "C" school, associate's degree from American Military University (Honor Graduate), master's in american history from American Military University (Honor Graduate), United States Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Academy (Honor Graduate) and command master chief and chief of the boat capstone, class 168.

 

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal (one award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various service and campaign awards.

 

He is qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist.

 

Nixon reported for his current assignment as Command Master Chief of Naval Recruiting District, Raleigh, NC in April 2017.
