The son of a career Navy “Mustang”, Commander Thomas McKeon enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1992. Following his graduation from Recruit Training Command, in San Diego, California, he completed his pipeline training and proudly served for six years as a Navy corpsman.


Commissioned in 2000 through officer candidate school, Cmdr. McKeon became the third generation in his family to become commissioned after initially enlisting in the United States Military. Entering the surface warfare training pipeline, his initial sea duty tour was on board the USS Roosevelt (DDG-80), where he earned his surface warfare pin. Selected for lateral transfer in 2003, McKeon served as a human resources officer.


As a graduate of Austin Peay State University and the Naval Postgraduate School, Commander McKeon earned a bachelor’s of science in chemistry and a master’s in business administration. He is currently enrolled in the doctorate of business administration program at Wilmington University.


His operational assignments include USS Roosevelt (DDG-80), MCMRON ONE, JTF Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).


His shore assignments include Navy Personnel Command, Naval Post Graduate School, United States Special Forces Command, and Navy Recruiting District Nashville. He is currently assigned as executive officer, Navy Recruiting District Pittsburgh.


Commander McKeon’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and campaign medals.
