Command Master Chief Donald A. Charbonneau is a native of Southbridge, Mass. He graduated from Southbridge High School in 1988 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He received recruit training and seaman apprenticeship school in Great Lakes, Ill.
 
His sea duty tours include Assault Craft Unit Five deployed with USS Comstock (LSD-45) Detachment Delta, USS Camden (AOE-2), USS Oldendorf (DD-972), USS Fletcher (DD-992), USS Squall (PC-7), USS Chinook (PC-9), USS Devastator (MCM-6), USS Scout (MCM-8), USS Sentry (MCM-3) and USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG-108).
 
His Shore assignment includes two tours of recruiting duty at NRD Phoenix and is presently serving a third tour as the command master chief.
 
Charbonneau's personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (10), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and various Joint/Navy Unit and Campaign Awards.
