Commander Christian Gaskill, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1999 and immediately reported to surface warfare officer school in Newport, Rhode Island.
 
His first assignment at sea was electrical officer on USS Inchon (MCS 12), homeported in Ingelside, Texas, where he earned his surface warfare qualification. His next assignment was navigator on USS O'Kane (DDG 77), based at Pearl Harbor.
 
He then reported to Naval Reserve Readiness Command Northwest in Everett, Washington as training officer. During this tour, he laterally transferred to the full time support community as a human resources officer and reported to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California where he earned a masters of business administration.
 
His next assignment was commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center, Anchorage, Alaska. He followed his command tour as the officer assignments/apply branch head of Navy Reserve Forces Command in Norfolk. In this assignment, Commander Gaskill was responsible for assignment of all Navy reserve officers and the conduct of the annual National Command and Senior Officer Non-Command Screening and Assignment Board in Millington, Tennessee.
 
He was then assigned to the office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) staff in the Joint Requirements Management Branch, where he managed all of the Navy's joint manpower requirements. He then reported to the OPNAV Staff in the warfare integration, manpower and training branch.
 
In March 2016, he reported to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) New York to assume the duties of Executive Officer and assumed command of NRD New York in July 2017.
 
Commander Gaskill is a certified professional in human resources. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit, campaign and service awards.
